Our Approach
Reading Tutor Rx is an intensive reading program designed for encourage reading readiness in emergent and struggling readers. Our instruction focuses on phonemic awareness, phonics, decoding, spelling, listening and reading comprehension skills using the Orton-Gillingham method.
About Our Founder
Dr. Denise Simonelli, a graduate of Arnold & Marie Schwartz College of Pharmacy with a Bachelor of Science in 1999 and a Doctor of Pharmacy Degree from Rutgers University College of Pharmacy, has a unique perspective on dyslexia. Her journey began when her son was diagnosed as severely dyslexic, and finding solutions to support his education ultimately fueled her passion for extensive training on dyslexia and language-based learning disorders.
Dr. Simonelli’s commitment to her students is unwavering, and led her to obtain her Associate Level & Certified Level certifications from the Academy of Orton-Gillingham (OG) Practitioners. Since then, she has led instruction with her son and other students with wonderful success. Her experience providing individual and small group OG Instruction is a testament to her dedication.
Today, Dr. Simonelli continues to expand her training and skills, constantly updating her knowledge of the language and completing additional coursework and training to assist her students and trainees. Her dedication to continuous learning and helping others is a cornerstone of her practice. In addition to her private tutoring business, Dr. Simonelli also serves as a director at The Learning Habitat.
